Rewiring

Consumer Units

Modern fuse boards offer many advantages over the older rewirable fuse, still found in many properties today.  The latest 17th edition of the IEEE electrical wiring regulations requires that, with few exceptions, new electrical work must be protected by an RCD. The most cost effective solution is to fit a modern fuse board which will then add this enhanced protection to all the circuits in your house.

Gardens, Sheds and Outdoor

Outdoors we can offer you everything from a simple power point for the lawn mower to full garden schemes with automatically controlled water and lighting features.We can do a light in the shed, a full hobbiests garage workshop or a garden office. We regularly work in partnership with several local landscaping companies to truly give your garden that ‘Grand Designs’ look, but are also just as happy replacing a single lantern in your porch. 

 
 
Test & Inspection

The documented inspection of an electrical system details areas requiring improvement in order to ensure ongoing safety.  They should be regularly updated in rental properties and commercial / industrial locations and also recommended for domestic premises, or during house purchases. We'll explain our findings as clearly as we can but believe that it's not a sales exercise – if there’s nothing needs doing, that’s a good result too. 

Fault Finding

The lights keep fusing, or the fuse board keeps tripping out, or there’s no power at all; This is where experience matters! We can spot the common, but not necessarily obvious, faults in minutes. If it’s something a little more evasive or intermittent we’ll help you track it down for a price you'll be pleased with (we've got some of the best hourly rates in the business). We've always said no fix, no fee, and we're still here saying it today

Lighting

We're also happy to take on all the smaller jobs and will fit, move and change lights, switches, dimmers and transformers with the same attention to detailas every other job we do. (And we promise to be nice when you tell us you’ve just removed your old fitting and now there seems to be one wire too many to go in your new Ikea shade,and now none of the lights in your house will work....)

Earthing

Tightening of regulations over time means that many older properties are insufficiently earthed but,as your primary protection against electrocution in the event of a fault, it is critical that all the earthing provisions are in place. Additionally any metal service pipes to your property (water, gas oil etc) shouldbe connected directly to the electrical earth point. If you have any concerns, we can advice and resolve as required.

We offer free advice beforehand giving you as many options as you need, describe the scope of the work in terms you will understand, so you know exactly what to expect and always give firm quotes rather than estimates where we possibly can (and explain why if we can’t).We work hard during the day – we believe time paid for is time on the job - so we don’t languish over out tea, we don’t read the paper. Where possible materials are purchased before we arrive and we keep good stocks of common items in the van at all times.

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously.

We've been leading the way installing low energy LED lighting for several years, and also promote a host of other energy reducing options. 

Where at all possible we'll separate waste for easy recycling, and although we're legally prevented from removing bulk trade waste ourselves, always insist on using a licenced carrier to ensure correct disposal.

As of 2017 CanElectric is also running an all-electric Nissan e-NV200 as it's main vehicle meaning zero emissions and zero noise as we cruise the Sussex streets, benefiting all around.
